Happenings

Ingrid Mattseon, President of the North American Islamic Society, spends a day with students.

In the past, Union’s MSA has hosted and co-hosted a variety of events. Among them was a dinner to raise money to provide relief for the victims of an earthquake in northern Pakistan, as well as a “Breaking Fast, Breaking Barriers” dinner with Hillel to learn about fasting in both Jewish and Muslim traditions. We have also had guests come to the college, such as Hajji Noor Deen Mi Guangjiang, an expert in Islamic calligraphy and Dr. Ingrid Mattson, the current president of the Islamic Society of North America (also the first female president of ISNA), to talk to the campus and local community.

Smaller events include weekly talks, led by local community leaders on various topics chosen by students, as well as iftar dinners held by students and local community members and get-togethers for the sisters before Eid.
