Hunger Relief
Hunger Action Network
is a statewide anti-hunger coalition that combines grassroots organizing at the local level with state level research, education and advocacy to address the root causes of hunger, including poverty.
Activities: Volunteers are needed for lobbying efforts, office work, work in the Hungry Garden and raising awareness of the problem of hunger with folks in the campus community.

Emergency Food Program
Gives emergency groceries four times a year to people of Schenectady Country who are in need. The pantry is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am - 11:30am. and the last Tuesday of each month. Mass Distribution is held the last Thursday of each month.
Activities: Volunteers are needed to greet guests/file cards, intake/interview guests, pack groceries/repack bulk items, work the produce counter, distribute food at service window, help load/unload food items at pantry, sort food, organize a food drive at your organization, input computer data, plant/weed/harvest at community gardens, and lobby/advocate special events.

Crop Walk
is a celebration to fight hunger locally and overseas. Walkers find sponsors to make a pledge and then participate in a 5k walk on the first Sunday in May.
Activities: Volunteers recruit groups (congregations, businesses, etc.), promote the event, solicit for promotional expenses (T shirts, etc.), enter data after the walk and assist on the day of the walk.

City Mission of Schenectady
Serves hot meals Monday - Friday at 6:00 pm and bag lunches from 3:15 - 4:15 pm. The Mission provides an opportunity to work for food and lodging in an established residence including structured living, counseling and spiritual guidance.
Activities: Ongoing volunteer opportunities include tutoring, mentoring as a Big Brother/Big Sister, Adopt-a-Grandparent, and assisting in the clothing boutique.

Salvation Army Soup Kitchen
An evangelical part of the Universal Church whose message is based on the Bible, its ministry is motivated by the word of God, and its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination.
Activities: Volunteers can assist the cook in preparing and serving breakfast to 60 to 100 people.
