Catholic Charities of Schenectady-TLC Program

Offers a broad range of human services for families and individuals without regard to religion, income, race or lifestyle. The primary focus of the agency is to empower the disadvantaged to improve their lives. The TLC program works with pregnant and parenting teenagers.

Activities: Volunteers will sort and organize baby clothes by size and sex.

Family & Children's Services of the Capital Region

Established in 1813, Family and Children's Service of the Capital Region, Inc. is the oldest nonprofit, family service organization in the nation. Our highest mission is strengthening the quality of family and community life by assisting individuals and families in meeting the challenges encountered in the home, work and school through a diverse yet complementary continuum of behavioral and mental health care, education, prevention and advocacy programs.

Activities: Volunteers will assist with development of database information leading to establishing a comprehensive Information and Referral service. Volunteers will be involved in telephone work, researching information about local community based services. Mailing surveys, collecting information and entering data into a user friendly computer database.

Schenectady Community Action Program (SCAP)

SCAP is committed to alleviating the symptoms and eradicating the causes of poverty by helping people help themselves. We do this by identifying changing community needs, mobilizing resources and administering advocacy and self-sufficiency programs.

Activities: Volunteers will work with programs staff to help the public (customers) prevent eviction, locate affordable housing and address crisis needs. Some filing, document copying, faxing and telephone calling will be needed.
