St. Stephen's

Religious Services

There are many opportunities for worship in Protestant congregations within walking distance of the college campus. While our Campus Protestant Minister is an ordained Presbyterian pastor, she often accompanies students as they visit Schenectady churches of various denominations. Students who find a church home away from home will find members of area congregations quite willing to give them rides to church events.

The college years are formative ones for developing a spiritual identity. In response to these needs, the Campus Protestant Minister leads a mid-week service of prayer and reflection called SoulMoments. This brief service is often designed and conducted by students and has been attended by staff and faculty. While attendance is very small, this service is held in Memorial Chapel, a place identified by many as one of the three sacred spaces on campus (the Nott Memorial and the Jackson's Gardens being the other two). Service times vary by term. Check Happenings for the current service time.

The search for a spiritual home away from home can be an important one for the overall health and wellbeing of a student. To that end, the Campus Protestant Minister is happy to meet individually with students seeking a worshipping community to help discern which places of worship in the area may best meet their needs.
