Academic and Honorary Societies

American Society of Mechanical Engineers: ASME's student section acquaints participants with the profession of mechanical engineering and creates an awareness of the engineer's responsibility to society and to the environment.

Biology Club: An informal service organization dedicated to keeping students involved in the field of Biology. The Biology Club's activities include an annual picnic, trips, and numerous health related seminars.

Chemistry Club: The affiliate chapter of the American Chemistry Society promotes interest in chemistry and provides exposure to the career possibilities open to chemists by sponsoring tours, seminars, and films.

Classics Club: The Classics Club is designed for any student interested in, or wanting to learn about, Classical art, history, languages, etc. Club activities include yearly trips to major art museums and guest speakers.

Delphics: The Delphic Society recognizes distinguished contributions to the extracurricular life of the College by conferring membership upon persons the society judges to be qualified. School service can include extensive participation in publications, theatrical performances, advisory roles, and political positions, among others.

Economics Club (Ceteris Paribus): This club offers a forum for the discussion of current economics events and helps members explore the numerous career options in the field. These objectives will be met through guest speakers, group discussions, and field trips.

Entrepreneurship Club

Eta Kappa Nu: Eta Kappa Nu honors students with an interest and marked ability in electrical engineering who show exemplary scholarship, leadership, and character.

French Club: This Club promotes the French language through weekly discussion tables as well as sponsoring films, trips, and French dinners.

Geology Club: The geology club provides a vehicle for exposing members to unique geographical sites and brings in speakers to address current geological localities, where members are able to study the science of geology first hand.

German Club: An organization devoted to promoting opportunities for everyone interested in the German language and German culture. We offer a weekly lunch-time "German Table" and several informal social gatherings, discussions, films, and special events each term.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers: IEEE's student branch tries to narrow the gap between professionals and students by providing speakers, field trips, a spring picnic, and, in general, a closer student-faculty cooperation in and out of the classroom.

The National Society of Black Engineers: NSBE-Union develops programs to recruit, retain, and graduate minorities in engineering, science, and other technical fields. NSBE operates through a university-based structure coordinated through regional zones and administered by officers of the national executive board. NSBE initiates programs both within and outside the university community.

Philomatheans: The Philomathean Society meets every Friday evening for debates, discussions, and other intellectual intercourse. Dress is semi-formal (guys wear ties). All are welcome to attend.

Pre-Health: For students interested in pursuing careers in any health-related field. Through speakers, seminars, meetings, and social events, participants acquire information and insight into the health profession.

Pre-Law Club 

Psi Chi: Union's chapter of the national honor society in psychology. Through its activities and speakers, Psi Chi attempts to promote interest and scholarship in the field.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers: SHPE-Union assists students in completing their Science and Engineering degree programs through retention and peer work/study programs to guide, counsel, and tutor; advise and encourage minority students to pursue higher education in the Engineering and Science fields; and to provide scholarships and educational grants for students.

Society of Physics Students: This club primarily consists of students majoring in Physics. The club sponsors speakers, trips to other universities and research centers, and social events. Every member of the SPS is a member of the national club and receives a subscription to "Physics Today." For information contact the Physics department or any Physics faculty member.

Society of Women Engineers: SWE is a national organization which promotes the role of women in engineering. Tours, lectures, and panel discussions are offered to help women find opportunities in and learn about the field of engineering.

Spanish Club: This organization promotes the language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through films, lectures, social gatherings, cooking classes, the weekly “Spanish Table,” and a diverse array of co-curricular activities, which allows faculty and students to interact, practice spoken Spanish and learn about Hispanic cultures in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tau Beta Pi: Tau Beta Pi is the only national engineering honor society that serves all branches of engineering and related sciences. Membership in the society signifies academic achievement and good character.
