Union in the Rankings

Where we stand

We strongly believe that the very best way to get a feel for a college and determine whether it is a good fit for you is to visit the campus and talk with members of the community.

Nonetheless, we recognize that many people consider national college rankings a helpful piece of the puzzle when they are evaluating colleges and universities. For many decades, Union has consistently been ranked among the top 50 liberal arts colleges in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its annual "Best Colleges" list.  Below is our standing in that ranking and others:

  • TOP 50 Best National Liberal Arts Colleges (U.S. News & World Report)
  • TOP 20 National undergraduate engineering programs accredited by ABET (U.S. News & World Report)
  • #11 Most Beautiful U.S. Colleges (Newsweek and The Daily Beast)
  • #1 Highest number of active NSF awards
  • #2 Highest total dollar amount of NSF active grants
  • #10 Best Science Lab Facilities (The Princeton Review)
  • #5 Most Popular Study Abroad Program (The Princeton Review)
  • TOP 20 Total number students studying abroad among U.S.colleges (Institute of International Education Open Doors Report)
  • #1 Renewable energy user among liberty league schools in the EPA College and University Green Power Challenge
  • AMONG THE TOP colleges or universities in the nation with the most eco-friendly policies and greatest commitment to sustainability (The Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges)
  • #13 Small and Mighty Campus of Excellence (Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life)
  • #15 Best College Radio Station (The Princeton Review)
  • AMONG THE institutions named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service to the local community

We are understandably proud of our national standing and of the recognition we receive each year from the media and external sources. But to understand what Union is really all about, there's no substitute for an in-person visit. We look forward to meeting you.
