One of the distinguishing characteristics of a liberal arts education at Union is our emphasis on applying ideas through practical experience. Our unique location -- just outside the state capital of Albany, in the heart of the Northeast's "Tech Valley" region, near the major waterways of the Hudson and Mohawk rivers and a short drive from both New York City and Boston -- enables us to connect our students with valuable internships in the fields of science, business, government, technology, the arts and many more.
Work abroad for IBM over the summer, as three members of the Class of 2012 did in Switzerland and China as part of the global tech giant's "Smarter Planet" initiative. Or, like Adam Margulies '12, spend the summer working with a renowned astrophysicist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. Our Becker Career Center has an abundance of resources designed to help students obtain the kind of hands-on internship experience that is highly valued by employers.
