Summer Science Workshop
Summer Science Workshop (SSW) is a residential summer program offered at Union College for high school students underserved in science and health professions. SSW has been offered at Union for the past ten years with participants from throughout the United States as well as some foreign countries.
We have been pleased with the success of this program. Most former participants have pursued majors and careers in science, math, computer science and engineering. Twenty-five former SSW participants have become Union students.
SSW is not being offered during the summer of 2009. Please check back here for information about the summer of 2010.

EdGE (Educating Girls for Engineering)A residential summer workshop for high school girls
-
Did you know that women constitute 51% of the population of the United States nd 46% of the labor force, but that only 9% of today's practicing engineers are women?
-
The EDGE program offers high school girls a unique opportunity to explore engineering in a way beyond basic math and science. EDGE participants use the engineering design and problem-solving skills they develop during the program to design and create toys and communication tools for disabled children at a local rehabilitation center.
- More information and applications for the summer 2009 program are available.
