Our Engineering Alumni

Brian  A survey of recent Union engineering graduates revealed that our alumni are pursuing careers and advanced degrees in a wide variety of applications. From medical and law school to engineering advanced equipment for the semiconductor industry, they find themselves prepared and engaged in their work. Here are some things that they say about our programs:

"By combining engineering with liberal arts, I've been able to convey my technical expertise to less technical people. In my job, that is extremely important. All the technical knowledge in the world means nothing if you can't explain your ideas and put them on paper."

"Skills needed to work in a team have come in handy. The heavy liberal arts component was a huge plus. In general, Union was also helpful for my growth, and acted as a vehicle for correcting mistakes that you don't want to make in the work world. The small class environment was also helpful because I've experienced environments of similar size while working."

"I cannot recommend a term abroad highly enough. It gives students a global perspective which is a requirement for today's business world."

"My research experience at Union was extremely helpful in my graduate career."

"I would not where I am today if went to a different college, I need to give credit to the professors at Union for challenging me to be the best I could be. Attending Union gave me the confidence in my abilities to be able to achieve whatever I set my mind too. I am one of the youngest employees to have my title at work. Interfacing with not only engineering majors but also liberal arts, etc majors help prepare me for the "real world" work force. I have the confidence in myself to be able to talk to anyone at any level because of my experience at Union."

"By far, in our office, I am the most able to communicate well with others, whether orally or written. I think that the liberal arts education combined with top notch engineering makes me a valuable asset to the company - someone who is technically sound, but can communicate with lay people, peer reviewers and knowledgeable clients alike."
