Statement: “I am truly honored to receive the Hainebach Prize in German. Prior to last fall, I did not speak a word of German. In high school, I studied Spanish. I wanted to study another language drastically different from Spanish, and selected German. I have loved learning German this past year, and look forward to continuing my German studies in the future. I plan to spend next spring on the German term abroad exploring the cities of Berlin and Freiburg, and am very excited to have that opportunity. I would like to thank Professor Ricci Bell and Professor Nelson for a wonderful first year of German!”
