Statement: "Studying French has created unparalleled experiences for me at Union such as participating in the term abroad in Rennes, working as a French assistant, and being a part of the community of faculty and students in the French department. The academic as well as personal relationship I have developed with the language itself has opened my eyes to the importance of multinational consciousness and the beauty that can be found in speaking, and especially writing, in a second language. Speaking French has also encouraged me to learn other languages and to have other experiences with countries such as those I have had with France."
