Statement: "It is an honor to be recognized by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. As a third generation Chinese-American, studying Mandarin and going to Shanghai for my term abroad has been an extremely rewarding part of my college career. Because of these experiences, I feel more connected to my cultural background and history, helping me to rediscover my identity as a Chinese-American. In the future, I hope to continue to cultivate my appreciation for different languages and cultures."
