Statement: "From the beginning of my Spanish studies in middle school, teachers could not emphasize enough how important Spanish would be in our future lives. I valued their advice, but did not fully realize the truth of their words until I came to Union and continued my study of the Spanish language and Latin American cultures. I will certainly be using the skills as a physician in the future, since Spanish will be necessary in any urban setting. My internship with La Cruz Roja of Morelos (Mexico) taught me the universality of health and with the ability to communicate with the Spanish-speaking community, I will be able to serve a significantly larger population."
