Title of Senior English Thesis: "Changed Light: A Poetry Collection"

Statement: "I am incredibly honored to be recognized for my achievements in modern languages.  Studying Spanish has opened up more opportunities for me than anything else at Union.  After going on a miniterm along the Mexican-American border during the winter of 2008, I became very interested in the issues surrounding U.S. immigration and deportation policy.  This summer (2009) I will be returning to the border with two fellow Union students on a Davis Projects for Peace grant. We will be volunteering at a Migrant Resource Center in Naco, State of Sonora, Mexico and working on a book project that focuses on the human rights violations during deportation."
