Title of Honors Thesis in History: "Richard III in History and Postmodern Theory."
Statement: "After participating in the term in Washington, D.C. during my junior year, it became clear to me that I was wrong to have ignored the teachers who had advised me that it was crucial to continue to study French. While interning at a human rights organization in Washington, I realized that if I wanted to work in government, fluency in a second language would be essential. When I returned to Union, I declared a French minor and applied for a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship in France in order to travel, experience French culture, and improve my language skills. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to France and I look forward to living and teaching in a foreign country. I hope to return with the French language skills necessary to eventually work in international relations and to have the ability to communicate with people from all over the world."
