Welcome to the Language Center!
Let me introduce myself:
I started here as Director of the Language Center in June of 2004. In addition to running the lab, I am working on developing technology oriented projects with faculty, and to enhance the learning of foreign languages at Union College. In addition, I teach courses in French using communicative and multimedia-based teaching approaches. Furthermore, I supervise the six Language Assistants and train them in the teaching and learning of foreign languages with technology. I am also the immediate Past-President for NERALLT (New England Regional Association for Language Learning Technology).
I hold a Ph.D. in French Studies from the University of Connecticut. I successfully defended my dissertation entitled "Shameful, Shameless, and Abject Bodies in the Works of Annie Ernaux, Christine Angot, and Régine Detambel" in September 2006. As a Graduate Assistant at Uconn, I taught courses in French language, literature, culture and film for five years. I also taught teaching and learning with technology and the web. I had the opportunity to work as a Multimedia Intern in the Language Lab and as an Editorial Assistant for the Journal of Contemporary French and Francophone Studies formerly known as Sites.
I then went on to Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, where I taught French language and culture for four years as a lecturer. I also headed the French Club there. I arrived in the United States in 1995 as an exchange student majoring in English from Paris, France. I have always had a love for foreign languages, cultures and technology.
I hope to see you soon in our facility.
