This is a 1.1 Million Volt Pelletron particle accelerator from National Electrostatics Corporation. This tandem accelerator is used primarily for materials analysis and charactarization using PIXE (Proton Induced X-ray Emission) or RBS (Rutherford Backscattering Spectormetry). We have the capability to accelerate protons to energies of 2.2 MeV and alpha particles to 3.3 MeV.
