Stafford Loan Exit Counseling

  • Is required before you withdraw, graduate, or drop below half-time attendance (even if you plan to transfer to another school)
  • Helps you understand your rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower
  • Provides useful tips and information to help you manage your loans

To begin your Online Exit Counseling go to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) website.  You will need your Federal PIN to log in (the same PIN you used to sign your FAFSA - if you have forgotten your PIN, there is a prompt to request a new one).  Once the exit counseling is completed, the Financial Aid Office will receive electronic confirmation.

PLEASE NOTE

Many changes have occurred to the loan industry since 2007.  You may have a Federal Stafford Loan from more than one lender, as well as a Direct Stafford Loan (beginning with the 09/10 aid year).  To help manage your different loans, we recommend that you review your complete federal loan history via the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) - the same link listed above for your exit counseling, but choose 'Financial Aid Review'.
