Why I chose Union...I was a high school sophomore when I first stepped onto Union's campus, dragged along during my older brother's college visits. Although I was only 16, something about Union sparked my interest. I loved the small campus and sense of community I felt immediately. I came back for a Jr. Jump Start Day, sat in on Abnormal Psychology with Professor Nydegger and knew I wanted to be learning in an environment like that classroom with a great professor like him. I jumped at the opportunity to apply Early Decision. I'm thrilled to be on this campus today and contributing to the College in a new exciting way.
Term abroad:
National Health Systems (NHS). During my junior spring, I interned at the Joan Nicole Prince home while studying Comparative Healthcare Systems. After spring term, we traveled to Canada, Copenhagen and London to gain a first-hand understanding of health care systems around the globe through meeting with different healthcare professionals in various healthcare fields. This trip allowed me to experience different cultures and have a stronger understanding of a very pertinent issue our country faces today.
Favorite sports team:
Living 40 minutes west of Boston, it's clear who I root for: Celtics and Sox!
Favorite vacation destination:
Waterville Valley, N.H. My family has a house there; it's where I learned to ski and bike. Each season invites new breathtaking views of the White Mountains from our back porch.
Favorite book:
Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried"
Favorite musician:
Jack Johnson, Straight No Chaser (saw them at Proctors!)
Favorite Schenectady restaurant:
Scotti's has delicious pizza and the friendliest service. I'd always go with my parents on family weekends.
Favorite spot on campus:
Wold House living room. Whether I was enjoying late night study break pancakes prepared by the math department during exam week, watching a March Madness game or attending a professor-led discussion, this space was always inviting and still feels like home. I loved living in Wold my junior year. I also loved burning off stress on the treadmill at the Breazzano Fitness Center.
