Merinder paces Union in first day at ECAC Track Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Union College sophomore Jen Merinder (Andover, Mass.) represented the Dutchwomen at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College Thursday. Merinder ran in the 100 meter hurdle preliminaries, just missing the cut. She and other members of the Union squad will continue competition Friday.

LAKE QUINSIGAMOND, MA -- The Varsity 4 Union women's crew squad finished seventh at the 2008 ECAC Championships. Union had coxswain Victoria Peabody (Alexandria, VA), stroke Leigh Mastin (Denville, NJ), #3 Stephanie Seaman (Ledyard, CT), #2 Cassandra Denefrio (Windham, NH) and bow Leah Robison (Schenectady, NY).

LAKE QUINSIGAMOND, MA -- The Union College Men's Varsity 4 finished in 10th place at the ECAC Championships. Union featured coxswain Pauline Schwenk (Weston, MA), Russell Creed (Farmington, CT) at #4, Reed Olsen (Saratoga Springs, NY) at #3, Gordon Butler (Easton, CT) at #2 and bow Richard Pluto (Portland, ME).

COOPERSTOWN, NY -- Union College senior diver Molly Freeman (Barrington, IL) received the 2008 New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association Scholar Athlete Award Monday night at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown. Union Head Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Coach Scott Felix received the NYSWCAA Coach of the Year Award at the event.
