Connections:  Exploring the Ties between Poet Jim McCord and Painter Bruce McColl
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Mandeville Gallery
Poet’s Tour: A chance meeting more than 10 years ago between poet Jim McCord and painter Bruce McColl at the Vermont Studio Center started a relationship that would influence the form and content of their art. Retired after many years as professor of English at Union, McCord will discuss his poetry in connection with McColl’s paintings. For more information visit the Mandeville Gallery page.

Dance Residency Lecture and Demonstration

Admissions Open House and Campus Walking Tours

Whether you have a prospective student or you haven’t been back to your alma mater in a while, join one of Union’s knowledgeable student Gatekeepers for a tour of campus. There will be an Open House from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with tours at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30, 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Admissions interviews are available for high school seniors by appointment only. Join the Tour of Historic Union, developed to make members of the Union community, including alumni, and the outside community more aware of the importance of the Union campus as the first campus developed with a comprehensive plan. The tour will visit each building that sits on a location envisioned in Joseph-Jacques Ramée’s plan, including the six buildings Ramée himself designed. No reservations needed.

Summer Research Poster Session

Dance Residency Performance Prophets of Funk and Reception

The Stephanie C. Davis Dance Residency is proud to sponsor David Dorfman Dance’s Prophets of Funk. Prophets of Funk is a dynamic engagement of movement driven by the popular - and populist - funk sounds of Sly and the Family Stone. Since its founding in 1985, David Dorfman Dance has performed extensively in New York City and throughout North and South America, Great Britain, and Europe, most recently in St. Petersburg and Krasnoyarsk in Russia and Bytom and Cracow in Poland. David Dorfman and the company’s dancers and artistic collaborators have been honored with eight New York Dance and Performance ("Bessie") Awards. Tickets with an option for bus transportation must be purchased through the Homecoming and Family Weekend registration form.
