The campus grounds have more than eight acres of gardens. Visit the new, old and well-known on this walking tour beginning at Octopus's Garden (our organic community garden), with a stop at Mrs. Perkins’ Garden. Tour ends in Jackson's Garden.

Mini Free Library
Join Alpha Delta Lambda and Alpha Delta Phi in building and painting a mini free library! These libraries will be set up in the Schenectady Community - in parks and coffeehouses - to build a connection between Union and Schenectady through an intellectual exchange. Minerva Fellow Shalini Singaravelu ’12 recently returned from a one-year volunteer placement with the Gift of Hope in Durban, South Africa. This weekend she will be selling unique handcrafted items from Africa to support Project STAR at South Africa’s Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, a holistic program for children living with HIV/AIDS. The total purchase price of all items will go directly to Project STAR. The Gift of Hope was founded by Lauren Cohen '78. Cash or checks only. Join the Tour of Historic Union, developed to make members of the Union community, including alumni, and the outside community more aware of the importance of the Union campus as the first campus developed with a comprehensive plan. The tour will visit each building that sits on a location envisioned in Joseph-Jacques Ramée’s plan, including the six buildings Ramée himself designed. No reservations needed. Meet at Grant Hall.

Observatory Open House
Telescopic viewing of the skies, including Saturn's rings and moons, in a 30-minute tour of the night sky through Union's 20-inch telescope, housed in an observatory atop the Olin Center. In the event of inclement weather, we will set up the Starlab Planetarium (donated by Jane Sadler '73) in the lobby of the Olin Center. Tour times are 9 and 9:30 PM. Space for this program is limited. Please reserve your free ticket at the Welcome Center in the Reamer Campus Center.
