Now in its third year at Union College, NYSP has expanded to four one-week sessions for 2008:

  • Session 3: July 26th to July 31st

The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) was established in 1985 by the NYS Legislature to prepare historically underrepresented students in the sciences or economically disadvantaged students in grades 7 – 12 for entry into postsecondary degree programs in scientific, technical, health-related, and licensed professions. Since 1996, the Union College STEP summer camp offers students an intensive three-week learning opportunity through classroom instruction, educational field trips and mentorship by Union College students. Camp Rince Ceol is Irish for dance and music. Now in its third year at Union College, Irish Dance camp is open to dancers who have a minimum of two years Irish Dance experience with a certified Irish Dance Teacher OR three years with non-certified Irish Dance teacher. This is an opportunity for kids to come together, in a non-competitive atmosphere, and enjoy their common hobby of Irish Dance.

Three sessions are offered in 2008:

  • Session 1: July 13-18
  • Session 2: July 20-25
  • Session 3: July 27-August 1

A select group of high school girls from across the country will take part in a two-week residential engineering workshop taught by Union College Engineering and Computer Science faculty and high school teachers. The workshop theme, Toys and Tools for Disabled Children, focuses on developing activities and communication skills of children with special needs. July 13, 2008 to July 25, 2008

Braemar Summer School of Highland Dance and Kiltmaking

June 28th, 2008 to July 3rd, 2008

Braemar Summer School of Highland Dance and Kiltmaking will be entering it's first year at Union College. The Braemar Summer School of Highland Dance and Kiltmaking (BSSHDK) was founded in 1982. The first dance “camp” was held at Doane Stuart School. The founder, a noted Scottish Highland Dance teacher in the Capital District area, Jeannie Brauns, wanted dancers to be able to attend an intensive workshop for a week with renowned international instructors at an affordable price.
