Andrew Szegedy-Maszak, inaugural Sorum Guest Professor, Union College, and Professor of Classical Studies and Jane A. Seney Professor of Greek at Wesleyan University, will lecture on Stillman’s photographs of the Athenian acropolis at 6:30 PM.  Szegedy-Maszak is the author of numerous books and articles on classical archaeology and photography.
 
 
 
 
 
This exhibition and Opening Lecture are dedicated to the memory of Christina Elliott Sorum (1944 - 2005).  Christie was Frank Bailey Professor of Classics, Dean of the Faculty, and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Union College.  An award-winning teacher, an innovative author and scholar, a superb administrator, and a beloved colleague, Christie worked tirelessly for students, faculty, and staff over more than two decades of service to Union College.
 
The exhibition, on the first floor of the Nott Memorial, will include photographic reproductions of Stillman photographs of the Acropolis along with a selection of original photo albums, letters, and other Stillman ephemera.
