The drawings of Arnold Bittleman (1933-1985) will rekindle the admiration of his many former students, colleagues, collectors and friends, and introduce a new generation of admirers to his distinctive aesthetic and personality. During his twenty extremely active years at Union College, Arnold Bittleman taught drawing, painting, design, color theory, photography, and printmaking, and he designed event posters, designed and advised The Union Book, organized concerts, film series, and lectures. Bittleman’s own work flowed slowly, carefully onward, and he exhibited widely and regularly. His work was shown at numerous venues including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
A reception on Sunday, Oct 3, 1-3 pm, will feature remarks by Stephen Pentak '73, Professor of Art and the Associate Dean of the College of the Arts at the Ohio State University, and Joseph G. Perrella '78, an artist, archivist and educator in Niskayuna.
