Volunteer Opportunities for Union Alumni

There's More Than One Way to Give Back

Volunteering is a great way to remain an active part of your alma mater. Without the help of alumni volunteers, we would not be able to raise the funds and resources each year that are so critical to the College.

Click here to sign-up for any of the opportunities described below. If you wish to help in other ways, we will do our best to match your special interest.

Admissions Office Volunteers
These volunteers attend college fairs, conduct off-campus interviews, host admissions receptions, spread the word about Union's tradition of excellence and help us recruit talented applicants. For further information on how you can participate, contact Abbey Massoud-Tastor or Helen Lecce at (518) 388-6112.

Alumni Career Network
By sharing your expertise, you can make a real difference in the lives of young people as they enter the world of work. For additional information, please contact Pete Fowler at (518) 388-6176.

Alumni Council Representative
The Alumni Council provides a structure for Union College alumni to participate in and benefit the Union College community.

Annual Fund Volunteers
Volunteers are vital to Union's fundraising success. Last year, more than 350 alumni and parent volunteers helped the Annual Fund secure record-breaking unrestricted gifts which provide for scholarships and financial aid, faculty recruitment and retention, state-of-the-art facilities, terms abroad and so much more. In addition to serving in a leadership role for the College, Annual Fund volunteers:

  • Work collaboratively with College staff to assist with donor outreach in order to meet dollar and participation goals each year
  • Stay connected to each other and the Union community
  • Have unique networking opportunities
  • Are invited to exclusive events both on and off campus
  • Receive special recognition

For more information or to join, please call (518) 388-6175 or email theannualfund@union.edu

Class Leadership
Each graduating class has a president, vice-president and secretary/class correspondent. These are five-year terms, and elections are held during the class's ReUnion weekends.

The President's Council
The President's Council, begun in 2009, offers a unique opportunity to give back to Union. The Council consists of a select group of alumni and friends of Union who not only support the College financially, but who share their time, their counsel and their professional expertise in ways that help further Union's mission and strategic objectives. For more information about the President's Council, contact Debra Geer (geerd@union.edu), Director of College Initiatives.  President's Council members may click here to access the President's Council Web site (username and password required).

Regional Clubs
The Office of Alumni Relations provides overall guidance and support for Union's Regional Clubs. Information on interested volunteers will be routed to the appropriate Club leaders. For information on a specific Club's operating practices and events, please use the Regional Club information page to contact the desired Club.

ReUnion Planning
Each anniversary class has a ReUnion Planning Committee comprised of elected class leadership and additional classmates who volunteer to help. The Committee determines class-specific activities (cocktail reception, parade, etc.) as well as makes phone calls and sends emails.
