Renewals

Schaffer Library’s computer system offers patrons the ability to view and modify their library account from anywhere. You can renew your books, view which items you have charged out, or change your address, without having to come in to the library in person. This gives you the ability to better manage your library activities to avoid accumulating overdue items and library fines.

To access your account, use any standard web browser and follow the instructions below.

From the library home page click on the ‘My Library’ link.

Enter your name and library barcode in the boxes indicated. Your library barcode is the 13 digit number printed on the back of your Union ID, Schaffer Library card, or DAP card.

You are now logged in. You should see a list of items you currently have checked out. You can renew your Schaffer Library items by placing a check mark in the box next to each item you wish to renew, and clicking the ‘renew selected’ button. You can renew all your items by clicking the ‘renew all’ button. You may also order and renew Inter-Library Loan (ILL) items by following the ‘Inter-Library Loan’ link to ILLIAD . Please note: some items (such as certain Inter-Library Loan items, DVDs, and videos) might not be eligible for renewal. If you attempt to renew such items, a note will appear informing you “renewal not allowed”.

To change your mailing address, e-mail address, or phone number, click on the 'Modify Record' button. Make the necessary changes in the appropriate boxes, and click the 'Submit' button. You may also choose whether you would like to have your library overdue notices and fine notices sent to you by e-mail or postal mail.

You may also search the Schaffer Library catalog by clicking on the 'Search' button. The library system has the ability to save your search results for later use. For more information on searching the library catalog, please see a Reference Librarian, or call the reference desk at (518) 388-6281.

When you are finished, don't forget to log out by clicking on the 'Log Out' button. This is especially important if you are accessing your library account at a public computer.
