Volunteer of the Week

Sarayfah Bolling ’11 is this week’s Kenney Community Center Volunteer of the Week.

Bolling is the community service chair of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority. She has been involved in various community service activities, such as: helping the homeless at Bethesda House, walking to raise money for breast cancer research, helping elementary students with their homework, working with Campus Safety to make a public service announcement about laptop locks in Schaffer Library and mentoring girls through Girl Scouts of America Northeast New York.

Karen Ferrer-Muniz, director of Multicultural Affairs, described Bolling as a “student who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to improve the quality of student life at Union College.”

Bolling is also the head resident advisor for Richmond Hall, and is the NASPA Undergraduate Fellow in the office of Multicultural Affairs and Campus Diversity. She also works as an intern in the office of Admissions. Bolling, from Atlanta, is an Organizing Theme Major, focusing on understanding the economics of the African-American community through sociology, economics and anthropology. She will pursue a master’s degree in social justice this fall at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
