This week’s Kenney Community Center’s Volunteers of the Week are the student volunteers for the Better Together campaign, Sriya Bhumi ’15, Mark Khazanov ’15, Fatima Hosain ’15 and Peter Donnelly ’14.
These students were trained over the summer by the Interfaith Youth Core for Union’s first ever Better Together campaign.
Better Together is a student-led campaign for interfaith action, and is a movement of students who are transforming their campuses into places where everyone can voice religious and non-religious values or experiences, engage others in related conversations and act together to make positive impacts to their campus.
Bhumi, from Old Westbury, N.Y., is a biology and music double major. She is also involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the dance team, Honor Council, is a Golub Council mentor and also serves as the secretary and treasurer of her class.
Khazanov ’15 is a computer engineering major and math and physics double minor from Rochester, N.Y. He is a member of Baja Club, Chabad and Spoken Word.
Hosain ’15 is a biology and sociology double major from Hopewell Junction, N.Y. She was a leader on the Community Service pre-orientation program, an Admissions tour guide, Beuth Council activities chair and is involved in UCEMS.
Donnelly ’14 is an anthropology major from Westmoreland, N.Y. He serves as a resident advisor in Webster House, as well as a member of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.
The first of three major events put on by Better Together will be the Fast-A-Thon on Oct. 2.
