Gerardo Reyes ’15, a studio arts and biology double major from Santa Ana, Calif., is the Kenney Community Center’s Volunteer of the Week.
Reyes was a main organizer of the Empty Bowls event, an annual student-run event at Proctors Theater to benefit hunger in the community. He not only planned it, as well as made bowls, but he also hosted the event and served as its entertainment with U-Break, the break-dancing club. Empty Bowls raised over $3,000 for Bethesda House, City Mission and Concern for the Hungry.
At the Kenney Center, Reyes volunteers regularly with the Arts, Books and Crafts after-school program for local children. He also spends time as a member of the Biology Club and serves on Wold House Minerva Council.
