Hometown: Far Rockaway, N.Y.
Minor: Africana Studies
Activities: COCOA House, Kenney Community Center STEP program, Heavenly Voices Gospel Choir, Black Student Union, UNITAS, Spoken Word
Favorite class: A tie between "Race, Class, and Gender," "African American Literature: Beginnings to 1900" and "Race and the Constitution."
What I'll miss most: The special connections I have made with a number of faculty, staff, students and the local community. These relationships have provided me the confidence, support, and memories to keep going, and no amount of distance can end them.
Advice for incoming students: Be curious and adventurous. Curiosity has taught me that I do not know everything and that I have a lot to learn. Fortunately, Union has so much to offer in terms of academics. Being adventurous has taught me to take risks, plan and try my best to live in the moment. What you are receiving is not only a degree from an awesome institution, but also a wonderful opportunity to grow as individuals. So do not be afraid to be curious with yourself as well.
Life after Union: I look forward to applying to grad school, performing spoken word with my sister and starting a new blog.
