The Academic Opportunity Program (AOP) and the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) have a long and proud tradition of scholarship and academic excellence, serving students for more than forty years. Both programs offer an opportunity for enrollment at Union College to a select group of talented students who meet set economic and academic criteria.
The New York State-funded Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) was created in 1969 by the New York State Legislature to assist in providing access for all New Yorkers to the state's private colleges and universities. Students enrolled in the Higher Education Opportunity Program and the institutionally-funded Academic Opportunity Program receive personalized academic and social support during their college experience.
The following support services are available to AOP/HEOP students:
- Pre-First-Year Summer Program
- Financial aid covering tuition, room & board, and a book allowance
- Individualized and group tutoring
- Academic, personal, career and financial counseling
