Alternative Transportation Manager

Responsible for developing and disseminating information to the university community that promotes public awareness and use of transit and alternative transportation programs sponsored and/or managed by Parking and Transportation Services.
- Collaborate with the PTS Communication Manager to coordinate alternative transportation marketing and outreach plans, and develop an annual marketing and outreach plan for all alternatives to the single occupant vehicle (SOV) mode.
- Prepares and oversees the preparation of grant applications to enhance the funding of alternative transportation improvements for the university; monitors expenditures on grant-funded projects; and prepares related written and statistical reports.
- Represents PTS and the University at meetings with local and regional transportation planning agencies and transit providers.
- Coordinates alternative transportation-related development review and planning activities with CSU Facilities Division staff to ensure the inclusion of alternative transportation opportunities, including: bicycle, pedestrian, and mass transit, in development review actions.
- Makes presentations to and facilitates meetings with the campus community groups, neighborhood associations, and other transportation-related committees, alliances, and coalitions.
- Prepares and presents written reports and oral presentations to the Directors of PTS, Facilities Services, and other related bodies.
- Participates in meetings, conferences, and other professional forums to keep abreast of transportation system trends and emerging strategies; and stays informed on community, social, and political problems and their relevance to and impact upon alternative transportation programs.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Possession of a bachelor's degree in transportation planning, urban planning, environmental studies, or related field; and,
 
Five years of professional transportation management experience which includes;
- Demonstrated ability to write grants, and obtain grant funding, for alternative transportation initiatives.
- Development and implementation of various alternative transportation programs (i.e. bike, pedestrian, carpool, car share, ride share, on-campus shuttle, off-campus shuttles).
- Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues through data collection, research, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with developing collaborative relationships at all levels of administration and staff.
- Expertise in making effective public presentations before decision-making bodies.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, manage and complete complex alternative transportation projects.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with a diverse customer base (i.e. university, municipal, corporate campus environment, governmental agencies, elected officials, neighborhood associations, community groups, and the general public).
- Ability to work autonomously with success in meeting goals, priorities, and deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
