Description
Work with the University at Albany Alumni Association to develop strategies to engage alumni statewide, nationally, and internationally
- Coordinate alumni networks in Washington, DC, New York City, and Albany, including, but not limited to arranging events in all 3 cities and recruiting new members
- Outreach to both undergraduate and graduate Rockefeller College alumni through telephone, email, campaigns, and events that involve students and faculty
- Assist and give guidance to the Dean’s Leadership Council to further engage undergraduate students, particularly graduating students, to transition them to active alumni
- Independently provide management and oversight in the planning and coordination of the annual Alumni Dinner and Awards Ceremony, including but not limited to venue selection, menu planning, development of marketing strategies and coordination with stakeholders
- Coordinate and track alumni data in cooperation with the University at Albany Institutional Research Office, Development Office, Alumni Association, and academic departments
- Manage the Alumni in the Classroom initiative, including but not limited to identifying and inviting speakers for classroom visits, and providing logistical support to faculty and staff members
- Lead efforts for the annual Student-Alumni Jeopardy Challenge, including but not limited to engaging students and alumni to participate, developing content, and providing logistical support for the event
- Engage alumni to participate in the recruitment of prospective graduate students through phone campaigns
- Plan phone-a-thon campaigns to collect correct alumni data, to maintain correct contact information, and to inform alumni of the College’s events
- Participate in meetings with the Rockefeller College Advisory Board, and engage and leverage members to participate in College and alumni activities
- Work with the Development Officer and the Assistant to the Dean to identify and develop prospective donors
- Travel to Washington, DC, New York City, and other locations to meet with alumni, on occasion
- Participate in College Commencement activities
- Originate and write content for College publications, including but not limited to the bi-annual News Magazine, Facebook, LinkedIn, and e-News
- Write and distribute a monthly alumni electronic newsletter
- Assist with College orientation activities, planning at least 1 alumni/student event
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Ability to manipulate and maintain databases; familiarity with Nolij and PeopleSoft preferred
- Strong written communication skills
- Superior oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with a wide range of stakeholders, including high level alumni and constituents
- Knowledge of social media, including LinkedIn and Facebook
- Attention to detail
- Ability to manage time appropriately, including identifying priorities and multi-tasking
- Ability to work independently
- Demonstrate professional judgment/behavior
- Ability to forge relationships with alumni, faculty, staff, and external constituents
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
- Knowledge of higher education administration principles, practices, and environment
- Experience in alumni relations, development, and/or fundraising
- Experience in planning large events

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Preference will be given to a Rockefeller College alumnus
