Assistant Director for Internships and Employer Relations

- Participate in the department’s implementation of the Colby Connect career planning curriculum, including presenting workshops on self-assessment, career exploration, and career-related communication topics
- Develop and/or present general as well as specialized workshop programming related to programmatic areas, such as internship search strategies
- Initiate and manage on-campus recruiting as well as employer outreach and cultivation for internships, while supporting the employer relations program overall
- Assist with managing internship and employment databases
- Administer the Jan Plan and summer internship programs, internships for academic credit and/or transcript notation, and funded internship program
- Manage alumni/parent affinity groups
- Partner with other departments on campus including alumni relations, parent programming, admissions, campus life, and academic departments
- Develop and cultivate relationships with local employers to expand the opportunities for in-semester internships and to supplement summer and January opportunities
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred

- 2-4 years of experience in a related field, such as business, non-profit administration/fundraising, employer relations, recruiting and/or career development

- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population

- Ability to engage employers at a high-level of professionalism, and provide superior customer service

- Experience building and securing relationships with constituent groups

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation of workshops and related educational experiences for students

- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends, and travel occasionally as required

- Strong time-management and data-management skills

- Experience with evaluation of relevant career development programming

- Willingness to develop as a professional in an office that must be responsive to changing job markets and career/student development trends
