The Assistant Director of Financial Aid reports to
the Director of Financial Aid and performs the following duties:
- Counsel’s students on matters of student expenses and financial aid opportunities.
- Conducts information meetings for student and/or parent groups both prior to admission and during academic year.
- Confers with students about student expense budgeting and personal and family situations that might be related to financial aid needs and opportunities.
- Develops financial aid brochures and forms.
- Reviews applications for financial aid.
- Determines applicant eligibility for all forms of financial aid.
- May allocate resources to those students who are to receive assistance:
(a) Selects applicants for aid
(b) Determines the amount of aid to be awarded
(c) Notifies successful applicants
- May notify unsuccessful applicants for aid and recommends alternative methods for meeting
college expenses.
- Performs verification and packaging of financial aid.
- Assists with loan counseling and processes loan applications.
- Prepares students ‘and funds’ budgets.
- Prepares necessary reports for Federal and State agencies.
- Supervises Technical Assistant and federal Work Study staff in all functions as needed.
- May monitor the verification process before the allocation of funds.
- Develops and maintains the Financial Aid Office web page.
- May supervise the College Work Study Program inclusive of the following duties:
a. Selection of participants.
b. Review of job descriptions.
c. Placement of workers.
d. Review of student evaluations.
e. Monitor expenses against Federal allocation.
- May supervise Default Management Program, inclusive of the following duties:
a. Importing Delinquency File and determining cohort.
b. Notifying delinquent students by letter and telephone of their options to avoid default.
c. Maintaining default database tracking monthly default calls and results
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.
Qualifications
- In addition, the preferred candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling,Student Personnel, Education Administration or related field and experience with the Federal Work Study Program, previous counseling experience, and familiarity with the SCT Banner System.
