Description

Counsel diverse population of students one-on-one and in groups on all aspects of the career decision-making process. Advise students on all aspects of job and internship searching including resume and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies. Utilize career assessment tools as appropriate. Develop career related programs and conduct workshops and presentations. Provide resource development and administrative support for Career Services component of university wide retention program. Lead departmental counseling strategy for targeted student populations as assigned in collaboration with supervisor. Incorporate assessment to evaluate programming initiatives. Contribute to Career Services Counseling Team strategies and initiatives through special projects/assignments.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in counseling, higher education, college student services, or related field is required.
 
Minimum of one year of career planning/development experience in an educational setting. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with constituencies. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills as evidenced through public speaking and one on one work with constituents. Organizational skills required. Since the department is comprised of cross-functional teams, an ability to work in a team setting is required.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a college/university environment preferred. Preferred candidate will demonstrate an ability to integrate career and student development theories. Preferred candidate will demonstrate skills in program development and evaluation. Experience with career counseling assessment tools is preferred.
