Director of Career Development Center

Provide guidance and communication of career opportunities and career related activities to students; faculty and staff; community businesses and organizations; and government agencies. Assist faculty and staff in providing guidance for the exploration of career choices for students through the development of campus resources. Promote innovative approaches in support of students’ career development and job readiness. Develop strong and vibrant employer relations and an effective on-line vacancy referral system. Increase alumni involvement in preparing students for their job search and/or graduate school options. Provide supervision for three staff members and encourage their continued professional development. Encourage initiative, teamwork, collaboration, and creative thinking. Expand the application of technology in delivering services. Manage budget. Lead all assessment efforts for the office with special emphasis on student learning outcomes. Traditionally the Director has met with individual students, presented workshops and provided direct career counseling services, in addition to administrative responsibilities. This position will require evening and weekend work as needed.


Required Qualifications: Master’s degree; Minimum of five years of leadership experience in the career services and/or recruitment industry, working with academic and/or corporate environments; Demonstrated knowledge of college student development; and the willingness and ability to perform work on evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education or related field; Experience with supervision, budgeting, student learning outcomes and office assessment; Demonstrated success in building and nurturing relationships with internal and external constituencies such as students, academic partners, employers and alumni; Familiarity with the development of internship opportunities; Knowledge of social media trends and technology for career centers (e.g., NACELink or similar system); Strong record of high-quality public relations and customer service.
