Employer Relations Coordinator/Counselor

- Actively participate in the identification, recruitment, and relationship management of prospective employers through individual meetings, site visits, online networking, and attendance at regional events hosted by professional associations, chambers of commerce, individual employers, and consortium colleges.
 
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing employers to facilitate interest in and recruitment of Utica College students/ recent alumni.
 
- Work closely with the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations to identify and engage alumni as possible employers.
 
- Create marketing materials and strategies used in employer recruiting efforts and to promote opportunities to students/recent alumni using traditional and new media.
 
- Initiate communication with faculty, internship coordinators, and staff about job and experiential education opportunities.
 
- Document, track, and report employer development efforts, using quantitative and qualitative measures; maintain current contact information in employer databases.
 
B.Career Counseling
- Utilize knowledge of employment sectors, opportunities, and other industry-specific research to assist students/recent alumni in setting and clarifying career goals through individual appointments, e-mail correspondence, and other appropriate delivery methods.
 
- Help students develop and refine résumé writing, application essays, interviewing, and job search skills.
 
- Administer and interpret career inventories and assessments (Focus, MBTI).
 
 -Serve as a liaison between employers and students/recent alumni to facilitate the coordination of meetings, networking opportunities, informational interviews, etc.
 
- Track and report on student/recent alumni contacts and counseling appointments.
 
C.Program/Project Management
- Contribute to the creation and growth of an on-campus recruitment program through collaboration with faculty, staff, and student organizations.
 
- Leverage employer and alumni relationships to support the Alumni/Student Mentoring Program and activities coordinated by the Office of Career Services.
 
- Coordinate with the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations to administer the Graduate to Be and Alumni Surveys to ensure the highest rates of survey completion; review survey data to assess employment rates and apply findings to employer relations efforts.
 
- Develop and present major-specific information on a range of career development topics to students in classrooms and during workshops.
 
- Coordinate the biannual Volunteer Fair, in coordination with local human service and non-profit organizations and relevant faculty.
 
- Support the Office of Career Services with overall program, event, and service delivery.
 
D.Additional Duties
- Participate in office and divisional planning and goal setting meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred.

Special Requirements

The functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, typewriter, calculator, etc. involve extensive wrist and hand movement. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above. Applicants must be able to travel independently overnight and for several days at a time.
