Facilities Services (FS) supports KU’s mission of learning, scholarship, and creative endeavor by operating and maintaining the University’s physical plant and grounds. The Campus Energy Manager, a leader in the FS organization, will analyze and identify methodologies (technical and procedural) for improving the efficiency of energy utilization on KU’s Lawrence and Edwards campuses, encompassing over six million square feet of space. The Energy Manager will be a key partner with the Center for Sustainability in achieving the goals of the Campus Sustainability Plan. This position reports to the Director of Facilities Services.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1.Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Work experience in Utility Management, Energy Conservation or a related field may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
2.Demonstration of written communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
3.Successful passage of the EIT (Engineer in Training) exam within 6 months of employment if not completed by time of hire.
4.Previous demonstrated experience with analytical and computational skills for use in energy reporting, energy conservation measures and/or energy management.
5.Demonstrated experience with communication and presentation skills/materials as evidenced by working with a diverse constituency of people.
6.Previous demonstrated experience with the implementation and/or development of comprehensive energy management plan and/or energy conservation measures.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Experience in a large corporate or educational campus environment
2.Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certified
3.Licensed Professional Engineer
4.LEED AP or Green Associate
5.Previous use of energy reporting and modeling software such as EnergyCap, eQuest, and IES.
