This work involves responsibility for supervising and evaluating personnel and activities on the NERIC Service Desk. The incumbent will provide leadership and direction to
Service Desk personnel in providing technical support and resources for the five divisions of Capital Region BOCES, and for our member school districts. Oversees the day-to-day
operations of the Service Desk and is responsive to priorities and issues as they occur. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that users are provided efficient and timely
support by implementing and maintaining ITIL best practices and strategies. Provide outstanding customer service and satisfaction to local and remote BOCES and school
district personnel. Provide regular and timely communication to system and service users. The incumbent meets regularly with NERIC Unit Managers to assess the effectiveness of
the Service Desk in meeting the needs of their units and its users. The work is performed under the general supervision of a Managing Program Coordinator II (Network Services)
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Resources Management, Information Technology, or a closely related field; OR,

B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Resources Management, Information Technology, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in analysis, design, programming, or data modeling in information resources management; OR,

C. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Associate’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Resources Management, Information Technology, or a closely related field and FOUR (4) years of experience in analysis, design, programming, or data modeling in information resources management; OR,

D. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limit of (a) and (b). Vacancies are filled by certified list provided by Albany County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Albany County to obtain a permanent appointment.
