About the Job


Reporting to the CEO, the ideal candidate will be responsible for successful completion of tasks associated with mechanical engineering including but not limited to conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems, assemblies, fixtures and documentation.  The Mechanical Engineer will also be responsible for the continual improvement and advancement of engineering principles, processes, cost reductions, supplier relations and general conformance to project requirements and corporate goals. This is a hands-on position within a small, energetic company environment that is poised for growth.  This position is based in Henrietta, New York.



  • Conceptualize, create, document, optimize and validate mechanical designs as required to meet the goals of the company
  • Generate thoughtful and innovative work product that meets or exceeds project requirements
  • Design complex parts from concept through manufacturing to include
    • Creating a part model from scratch
    • Prototype or analyze to verify performance
    • Create drawing package
    • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed 
  • Ensure manufacturability of designs and work with suppliers and production staff to produce compliant goods and services
  • Assist with supplier management including identification, selection, qualification, quoting and directing
  • Support program team through assembly and product release
  • Support manufacturing through volume production
  • Prepare documentation consistent with the requirements of the industry, program and the company
  • Assist others, either intra- or inter-discipline, superior, peer or subordinate, by cooperatively and effectively participating in design reviews, cross training and mentoring
  • Organize time efficiently and effectively to ensure project and company goals are met
  • Represent the company at outside functions as required





  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years proven design and manufacturing experience in a product development environment
  • Familiarity with military specifications and military design experience, a plus
  • Ability to understand and solve complex engineering and mathematical problems in a formal and analytical methodology
  • Strong knowledge of applicable manufacturing techniques including machining, injection molding, casting, finishing and rapid prototyping.  Exposure to the design and manufacture of optics and printed circuit boards and hands-on machining, a plus
  • High proficiency at generating drawings, including a solid understanding of practical GD&T implementation, a plus
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Solidworks as well as modeling and theory based applications
  • Solid experience and proficiency using MS Windows and Office programs
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
