Description

The work involves responsibility for training and instructing school district personnel using various administrative and student management software applications supported by a BOCES Regional Information Center (RIC). The incumbent provides technical assistance in the use of administrative and student management software applications including grade
and attendance reporting. This position differs from that of Program Coordinator II (Administrative Services) by virtue of the fact that a Program Coordinator I’s (Administrative Services) duties and responsibilities, as well as the knowledge and experience pertaining to the software applications, are less extensive than that of a Program Coordinator II (Administrative
Services). A Program Coordinator I (Administrative Services) also exercises less independent judgment in the performance of his/her duties and responsibilities and does not serve as a lead worker.

Qualifications

A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s degree in management information systems, computer science, information resources management, information technology or closely related field, and one (1) year experience installing and maintaining software applications, computers and peripheral equipment; OR

B. Successful completion of twenty-four (24) credit hours in management information systems, computer science, information resources management, information technology, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees and one (1) year of experience as stated in (A); OR

C. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience as stated in (A.)

 

Vacancies are filled by certified list provided by Albany County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in

accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Albany County to obtain a permanent appointment.
