To make an appointment

The best way to make an appointment is to call (518) 388-6161 and schedule a meeting with a counselor. Usually, meetings are scheduled weekly for one hour duration between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Students may walk in, but counselors may not always be available.

Due to increased demand, the Counseling Center is moving to a short term treatment approach; offering counseling sessions every 10 days to bi-weekly, rather than weekly.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.  We can determine if weekly sessions are best for you, and offer you a referral off campus if needed.

Due to the high demand for appointments with Lois Lambrinos and the high number of students “no showing” their appointments with her, the Counseling Center has been forced to implement a “No Show Fee”.

If a student “No Shows” their appointment with Lois Lambrinos and has not called to cancel their appointment before the close of business the day prior to their scheduled appointment, their student account will be charged:

$35 for Intake (New Visit) Appointment / $25 for Follow-up Appointment for Medication Refill. Call the UC Counseling Center at 518-388-6161 to cancel or reschedule appointments.

Confidentiality and third party communications

Counseling is confidential within the boundaries of the law. Student's who desire to have confidential records communicated to a third party (other college offices, counselors, parents, etc.) should negotiate the exact nature of the communication and sign a release of information. The Counseling Center will field concerns from third parties (parents, faculty, etc.) regarding a student with a neutral member of the staff so that confidentiality is not breached.

Emergencies

The Counseling Center is involved in mental health related emergencies at the college. If you have a concern about a member of the community, please contact the Counseling Center or the Dean of Students Office. In case of life threatening emergency contact Campus Safety at 518-388-6911.
