2014 Global Public Health and Wellness Symposium: Pursuing Your Passion
April 25-26

The theme for this year's Presidential Forum on Diversity is global public health and wellness. The centerpiece of this effort is a symposium, which will provide a forum for discussion on local, global and public health fields.

Friday, Apr. 25:
5:30 p.m: Keynote Speaker, Dr. Loc Le ’84, a leading researcher in Hepatitis B (reception to begin at 5 p.m.)

Saturday, Apr. 26:
11 a.m. to noon: Poster presentations
Noon to 1:50 p.m.: Student/Alumni Health Professionals Luncheon (RSVP required)
2 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Panel discussion

At the symposium, members of the campus community and in particular, students will have the opportunity to:
· hear from leading experts including Union alumni - from government, the private sector, academe and non-governmental organizations
· attend a panel discussion on careers and opportunities in health and wellness-related fields in the U.S. and overseas
· take part in career networking sessions with alumni health professionals
· present research posters and projects related to wellness, health and public health issues

Faculty, staff and students have been invited to showcase their research in wellness and health-related projects. Any number of disciplines and fields lend themselves to research in these areas. Some possible areas include:
· Domestic and international public health
· Health economics
· Community health
· Medical and health psychology, medical anthropology, medical sociology
· Alternative medicine
· Spiritual health
· Art and music therapy
· Mental Health
