The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Award Date: February 2013

Union College has become the recipient of a $50,000 planning grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, entitled "Our Shared Humanities." The purpose of this grant, as its title suggests, is to support Humanities faculty members in developing and strengthening collaboration with colleagues across campus to encourage humanistic inquiry throughout the curriculum at Union and beyond.  Christine Henseler, Associate Professor of Spanish/Modern Languages and Literatures Department, will be leading this effort over the next year and a half, in collaboration with several teams of faculty members from across campus.  Prof. Henseler will present several speakers, workshops and forums for further conversation and collaboration. This planning grant will strengthen our already strong Humanities and help us build a shared framework upon which we can develop important new initiatives.
