Award Date: June 2011

Christina Tonnesen-Friedman, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, has been awarded a Simons Foundation Collaboration Grant for Mathematicians!  The $35,000 grant will support her project entitled “Kaehler Geometry” over 5 years by promoting research collaborations, travel, and improving amenities to enhance the research atmosphere within the Mathematics department.

The goal of the Collaboration Grants for Mathematicians program is to support the "mathematical marketplace," substantially increasing collaborative contacts in the community of mathematicians working in the U.S., by making a large number of grants to accomplished, active researchers who do not have access to other substantial research funding.  Dr. Tonnesen-Friedman will use the grant funding to travel with undergraduates for collaborative work, conferences and professional meetings, as well as invite collaborators to visit and/or lecture at Union College.
