Reporting to President, the Vice President for College Relations provides strategic direction and leadership to a staff of 60 in the offices of alumni relations, annual giving, college initiatives, gift planning, principal gifts, development, foundation, corporate, and government relations, research, records and data systems, and communication and marketing, which includes publications and media and public relations. In the past year, the Annual Fund garnered $7.1 million, including $4.3 million in unrestricted gifts. The recently-completed You Are Union campaign surpassed its goal of $250 million, bringing the total to more than $258 million and bolstering resources for student scholarships and financial aid, faculty support, research programs, campus facilities and other priorities. The College has an endowment of more than $365 million and over 20,000 alumni of record.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished person of substance with a track record of success as a senior advancement professional, preferably in a higher education institution. Key qualifications include: superb skills and demonstrated success in major gift cultivation and solicitation; significant experience managing staff and programs within a sophisticated college relations operation; understanding of the role of communications and alumni relations in a comprehensive advancement operation; demonstrated ability to build and lead diverse teams; excellent communication skills; proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment; and an ability to embrace the culture and values of Union College. The ideal candidate will also be able to articulate the mission and aspirations of Union College with passion and conviction.
