IBM Global Summer Internship in Beijing, China

Summer

Students will intern at the IBM China Research Laboratory in Beijing to collaborate on research and develop a global mindset through a one-of-a-kind cultural immersion. Students are selected from a variety of disciplines will be assigned to research teams at IBM and will work hard on challenging, real-world problems.  Our students will be joined by students doing internships from 3 other colleges and universities:  Notre Dame University, RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and CCNY – CUNY (City College of New York – City University of New York).  Students will be paid round-trip airfare, housing and a stipend.

Through the generous support of Notre Dame College our students enjoy the assistance of a program coordinator, whose primary goal is to facilitate cultural experiences while students are in China.  The coordinator provides an orientation to Beijing and in the past students have visited famous historical places in Beijing such as: The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, The Great Wall, and the Beijing 798 Art District.

Accommodations

Students will reside in an international student dormitory while staying in Bejing.

January: Application deadline is the third Friday of winter term.
• February: selections made at Union and sent to IBM labs Beijing and Zurich for review.
• Mid-March: $350 non-refundable deposit due at the Cashier's Office in McKean House, and receipt brought to the International Programs Office
• Spring term: Orientation meetings on campus and at IBM in NYC
• Early to Mid-June: Soon after exams end at Union depart for Beijing and internship begins
