Winter Break (Every four years)
Interested in experiencing a presidential election up close? If so, the New Hampshire Presidential Primary mini-term is for you. We will spend three weeks in and around Manchester, N.H., approximately one month before primary balloting takes place in that state. Students will have many opportunities to see candidates and their surrogates campaign and will also volunteer for a campaign organization.
Course of Study
One of the most important events in every presidential election cycle is the New Hampshire primary. In this mini-term, students experience the primary by interning with a candidate campaign organization, media outlet or other campaign-related group. In addition, students will attend campaign events and guest lectures (by campaign officials, pollsters, journalists, scholars, etc.). They will also analyze the New Hampshire primary through formal coursework (readings, discussions, papers). For this mini-term, students will earn one political science credit.
Pre-requisites
None, although there will be two mandatory meetings during the fall term preceding the mini-term. During these meetings, students will learn about the presidential nomination process, the politics of New Hampshire, the history of the New Hampshire primary, and the candidates who will be contending for their party's nomination.
Accommodations
Students will stay in a hotel in Manchester, New Hampshire during this mini-term.

- April: Application deadline is the third Friday of spring term.
- May: Non-refundable deposit due at the Cashier's Office in McKean House, and receipt brought to the International Programs Office
- Fall term: Orientation meetings
- Sunday, November 27: Arrive in Manchester
- Saturday, December 17: Departure from Manchester
